Balancing Family Screen Time: THE COMPLETE INTERACTIVE EDITION – Tips and tricks to instill a healthy relationship with devices
by Elizabeth Ernst Densley, BSN
Book Description
Have you ever scrolled mindlessly on your phone, computer, or tablet and suddenly realize hours have passed you by? For our young generations, this device-driven lifestyle is all they know.
Technology addiction is taking the world by storm. While technology undeniably has great benefits, it has its flaws. Namely, its negative impact on our children’s development, self-esteem, and the risk of them being exposed to dangerous or inappropriate content.
The good news is that we can rewire our and our children’s brains to limit screen time and better our lives.
With The Complete Interactive Edition of “Balancing Family Screen Time: Tips and tricks to instill a healthy relationship with devices,” you have the convenience of the book and the workbook in one. In this Complete Interactive Edition, you will learn concepts and complete writing exercises to:
● Identify your and your family’s personality styles
● Learn your and your family’s triggers and how to respond to them
● Become self-aware and build action steps to reverse your technology addition
● Establish consequences and rewards for your and your family’s screen time
● Track your consistency and progress
● Learn how to run an effective family meeting
● Teach your children how to protect themselves against cyberbullying
It’s not easy to break these patterns that have been instilled in us for years and years, or, in our children’s case, their entire lives. But you have the power to change your habits and set boundaries within your home. Start putting in the work today to create a balanced, healthy relationship with technology for you and your family.

Review by Melissa Dalton Martinez
For our young generations, this device-driven lifestyle is all they know. In Balancing Family Screen Time, you will learn how you can rewire your and your children’s brains to limit screen time, spend more quality time together, and live in the moment with your family.
While technology plays an important role in our lives, it shouldn’t take over our lives. I know personally I’ve found myself scrolling on my phone instead of watching my kids during swim practice and being present.
This is why I love this book because it helps you identify your and your family’s personality traits, become self aware of your and your family’s technology use, and learn different activities and tips and tricks you can do with your kids instead of just turning on a screen. There are also worksheets throughout the book that help you create a family plan, establish regular family meetings to check in with one another, and grow together as a family unit.
This “Complete Interactive Edition” is one of three new books by Elizabeth Ernst Densley. All three books have the same title, but one is the how-to book without the activities and one is a “Workbook Edition” without the main text. The “Complete Interactive Edition” conveniently combines the how-to book and the workbook into one!
I highly recommend these books for families to balance family screen time and establish a healthy relationship with technology!
